Main Job Role


The Sustainability Manager is responsible for leading and delivering the companies Beyond Cleaning sustainability strategy across both company operations and client contracts.


The role combines strategic responsibility with practical operational delivery, ensuring sustainability objectives are translated into measurable outcomes across our business and client portfolio.


Working closely with operational teams, clients, suppliers and stakeholders, the Sustainability Manager will drive improvements in environmental performance, carbon reduction, social value, waste management and responsible procurement whilst maintaining key accreditations and supporting business growth through innovative sustainability solutions.


Tasks & Responsibilities

  • The Sustainability Manager will lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the company Cleaning’s Beyond Cleaning sustainability strategy, ensuring that sustainability objectives are embedded throughout the business and reflected in the services delivered to clients. The role will work closely with operational, commercial and support departments to coordinate sustainability initiatives, monitor progress against targets and ensure that commitments are translated into practical actions and measurable outcomes.


  • The role will take ownership of the company Cleaning’s carbon management programme, including annual carbon footprint measurement, reporting and reduction activities. The Sustainability Manager will manage Carbon Neutral accreditation and associated reporting requirements, whilst developing and implementing carbon reduction plans that support the company’s Net Zero ambitions. Working closely with suppliers and operational teams, the role will identify opportunities to reduce Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions and improve environmental performance throughout the business.


  • The Sustainability Manager will be responsible for the collection, validation, analysis and reporting of sustainability data from across the business and supply chain, including environmental, social value and operational performance metrics. This will include managing data received from suppliers, waste contractors and procurement partners, ensuring information is accurate, meaningful and used to drive continuous improvement. The role will identify trends, opportunities and areas of concern, producing regular reports and recommendations for both internal stakeholders and clients.


  • The Sustainability Manager will establish, monitor and report against sustainability objectives, key performance indicators and improvement targets across environmental, social value and governance activities. This will include ownership of carbon reduction targets, waste diversion and recycling targets, social value commitments, volunteering initiatives and other sustainability measures agreed with clients or set within the company Cleaning’s Beyond Cleaning strategy. The role will work with operational teams to ensure targets are understood, embedded within service delivery and regularly reviewed to drive measurable improvements and demonstrate positive outcomes.


  • The Sustainability Manager will act as the operational lead for environmental management systems, supporting compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 requirements and ensuring that all associated policies, objectives and procedures are maintained. The role will coordinate internal and external audits, maintain sustainability records and support the retention of relevant environmental accreditations and certifications. Monitoring changes in legislation, industry standards and client requirements will also form an important part of the position.


  • The Sustainability Manager will also support the Commercial Department by contributing to tender submissions, client presentations and business development opportunities. This will include preparing sustainability responses for bids, supporting responses to client ESG questionnaires, developing sustainability case studies and assisting in demonstrating the company Cleaning’s environmental and social value credentials during procurement processes. The role will work closely with commercial and operational teams to ensure sustainability remains a key differentiator within the company’s growth strategy.


  • As the company’s lead representative for sustainability matters, the Sustainability Manager will be expected to build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, accreditation bodies and industry partners whilst promoting the company Cleaning’s sustainability achievements through both internal and external communication channels. The role will produce sustainability reports, performance updates, case studies and supporting The company mentation as required and will provide regular updates to senior leadership on progress against company sustainability objectives.

£45,000 - £55,000
